Birds and Brews
Wildland Cooperative Farm Market and Taphouse
Join your Spokane Audubon Society leaders Shenandoah Marr, Madonna Luers, and Shaina French for a fun and unique birding/fund-raising event being held Saturday, July 20 from 4-7 pm at Wildland Cooperative Farm Market and Taphouse located at 8022 East Greenbluff Road in Colbert. This event is perfect for all levels of birders, especially beginners, including families with kids.
We’ll start the evening off with a short (no more than an hour) nature walk with our trip leaders, keeping an eye out for local birds found in our agricultural areas such as Killdeer, California quail, bluebirds, blackbirds, catbirds, flycatchers, red-tailed hawks and more (or less, if it’s hot!). By 5:15, we’ll gather at the Taphouse to enjoy some no-host cold beverages (including non-alcoholic choices). From 6-7 pm, you’ll have a chance to win prizes and test your birding knowledge with fun rounds of Birding Trivia.
Wildland is generously donating $1 per every pint sold during this event to our Save-A-Bird Team to help cover costs of their work rescuing injured and orphaned birds.
All you need to bring is your curiosity, good walking shoes, comfortable clothing, cash or cards for beverages (beer, wine, or non-alcoholic options), food, if desired for after the walk, and your sharp wits for the birding trivia competition! Some binoculars will be available for use, but feel free to bring your own.
Please register (email to conservation@spokaneaudubon.org) by Thursday July 18, so we can provide a headcount to Wildland who is generously accommodating us (maximum 40 participants).
Wildland Cooperative’s farm has land set aside for conservation and re-wilding efforts benefitting generations to come. They make and serve wine, beer, and non-alcoholic libations alongside a thriving local art and goods market. Learn more about this forward thinking business and how you can support their efforts here.
